BOOK OF THE MONTH
A first in our member newsletter, a book recco! The book is The Racket by Conor Niland. “I picked this up while travelling recently and couldn’t put it down until I had read cover to cover. I think you guys will love it.” – Adrian (Founder & CEO)
Conor was Ireland’s top-ranked tennis player for much of his youth and all of his adult career. As a young player he beat Roger Federer, and he still has his coach’s notes on the match. His career peaked in 2011, when he reached the main draw of both Wimbledon and the US Open.
“Tennis is not all a bed of roses.”
The Racket is a book that reveals the true realities of life beyond the polished images seen on Instagram or the glamorous portrayal on Netflix. Conor shares personal anecdotes that highlight the stark contrasts within the sport, from the luxurious hotels at Wimbledon to the modest accommodations and grueling matches in small villages with minimal prize money and sparse audiences.
